R9HSA Solutions Webinar: Evidence Based Strategies to Support Dual Language Learners

Description:

Learn effective strategies to support the optimal development of young children who are Dual Language Learners. These webinars will provide an overview of a holistic framework to support the whole child. Participants will also learn how to set up a program-wide implementation plan to continue improving the supports provided to ensure positive child learning outcomes of young Dual Language learners from birth till age 5.

In the first webinar we will explore strategies that support the social-emotional development of dual language learners and how to effectively collaborate with their families. Participants will also learn how programs, coaches, and teachers can set up a continuous improvement plan to increase the intentionality of support given to dual language learners.

During the second webinar we will explore strategies that support the cognitive and language development of dual language learners. Participants will also learn how to create an engaging learning environment, routines, and use of curriculum to meet the needs of Dual Language Learners.

Learning Outcomes:
-Participants will learn about effective strategies that support Dual Language Learners
-Participants will deepen their understanding of instructional strategies that support Dual Language Learners
-Participants will learn how to create engaging learning environments to meet the needs of Dual Language Learners
-Participants will learn how to set up a program-wide implementation plan to continue improving the supports to Dual

Bio

Erika Flores is founder of Childrenflow, an organization that enhances children’s development through evidence based professional development. She has over 18 years of experience in the early education field in various capacities and in different countries. Previously, she worked at Teachstone as a Client Relations Director where she provided ongoing CLASS based expert consultation, strategy recommendations, and design of implementation models that measure and improve quality education at scale. In addition to that, she has been a MyTeachingPartner Coach Specialist and CLASS trainer. She also worked for the University of Virginia as a Research Assessor during a national professional development study. Erika has taught graduate and undergraduate students at DePaul University, as well as young children in Mexico,Turkey, and the US. Erika earned her M.ED from University of Illinois at Chicago and her B.S. in Psychology from the Universidad de Monterrey.
