September 30th – Family Engagement

In the first installment of the “Evidence Says” webinar series–University of California Irvine, School of Education Professor, Andres Bustamante–will discuss research on family engagement in early childhood settings. This session will introduce best practices for engaging caregivers and families in young children’s early educational experience, principles of human-centered design and how to center a learning environment around community cultural capital and assets. Bustamante will also draw examples from his own work engaging families in co-designing playful learning environments in urban public spaces (e.g., parks, bus-stops, grocery stores, etc.) to promote caregiver-child conversations and interactions that build foundational readiness skills.
