Tours will consist of the following sites:


Kihei Head Start (Kihei Elementary School)

The Kihei Head Start Center provides a comprehensive child development program. It has a capacity of 20 children with ages ranging from three to five years old. The center operates from Monday through Friday, providing children with age-appropriate and stimulating activities that enable them to gain new skills in preparation for kindergarten.

University of Hawaii Maui College Head Start

University of Hawaii Maui College and Head Start of the Maui Economic Opportunity (MEO) are partners in the UHMC-MEO Head Start, a preschool for 3-5 year olds on the west end of campus. First priority for this free program for eligible families is to children of Maui College students. Hours are 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The college campus provides a variety of hands-on experiences for enrolled children, and the classroom is also used for practicum students working in Early Childhood Education and nursing. A hot breakfast and lunch, plus an afternoon snack, are provided.

 Maui Family Support Services Early Head Start Center (Wili Pa Loop)

MFSS conducts the only Early Head Start funded, Infant and Toddler Early Childhood Development Centers in Maui County. These centers are located in Wailuku and Lahaina. 

In 2015, MFSS opened Hale Hi`ipoi, the first licensed Infant and Toddler Development Center in Hana. Hale Hi`ipoi is made possible due to a collaboration between MFSS, the Department of Education, the County of Maui and Kamehameha Schools.


Health Walk – Walk for DPC!

Time: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM

Location: Overlook

Join us for a morning walk and start your day strong!

The Dollar per Child Campaign supports Head Start advocacy across the nation. Exclusively for this year, join our morning walk, collect steps and pledges to enter to win $100.00! 


Visit the registration table (Haleakala 2) and pay the entry fee of $5.00 to receive your pledge card and a free pedometer. Join the morning health walk, track your steps/miles, collect pledges and submit them by 11:00 AM on Friday to enter into a $100.00 price raffle that will be announced during the closing session.


Parent Welcome Reception

Date: Wednesday October 24, 2018

Time: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM

Location: Haleakala 1

This will be a unique opportunity for Parent Leaders to meet and exchange information on how best to support their local programs.


Dollar Per Child Raffles

Dates: Wednesday October 24 and Thursday 25, 2018

Time: 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM

Location: Haleakala 2

Each donation you make will get you a raffle ticket which could allow you to take home some cool vendor and other cool prices! If you enter into the raffles, you must be present to win.


Curriculum Fair

Date: Thursday October 25, 2018

Time: 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Location: Haleakala 1

The Curriculum Fair will provide participants an opportunity to showcase some of their program’s high impact practices. We are looking for Head Start staff who are interested in having their activities displayed in the conference. An opportunity will be provided for staff to present their ideas to others during the conference.


Celebration Reception

Date: Thursday October 25, 2018

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Location: Chapel Lawn

Join us to dine under the stars on the Chapel Lawn.  The evening will feature a selection of Hawaiian Pupus and  live entertainment by the one and only band Nevah Too Late. They perform Hawaiian, Local Contemporary, and tunes spanning all eras from the 20’s through the present! Come join us, relax and enjoy the warm trade winds, celebrating our work of strengthening families for a brighter future.  Ticket price $95 per person.
