We are excited to welcome our new Program Manager of Membership Engagement and Communications to the Region 9 Head Start Association Team. Danya comes from a strong background of both membership services and communications, bringing over two years of experience working with The Black American Chamber of Commerce. There she led and assisted efforts to uplift and connect minority-owned businesses across Oregon. Her work with the BACC included running communications for their latest grant which distributed $500k to small businesses across the state. This work also included opportunities to collaborate with a wide network of agencies to build intersectional networking events, support broader communities, and connect business owners with resources for their success.
Before her tenure at the BACC, Danya held a number of jobs which diversified her skillset in a number of areas. From financial institutions to medical offices and the occasional food service job, Danya has found a love for serving her community and connecting with people to get to the root of their needs.
Danya is a Southern Oregon University graduate and carries a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with a performance emphasis. Throughout her time at SOU, she considers one of her greatest achievements to be the cultivation of a one-woman show which focused on her experience being a Chilean-American woman reconciling with the dark history of the country she loves so much.
Danya’s work philosophy is rooted in integrity, accountability, and collaboration, with a focus on kindness and professionalism. She believes that a supportive, organized team environment is key to success and is deeply committed to making a meaningful difference for the communities she serves.
I have been to management workshops, not leadership training. This has totally changed my perspective and encouraged me to propel forward in developing my skills.
I am honored and humbled to be a recipient of the Region 9 Head Start Association’s Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship helped me get one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming a Head Start Director.
I took part in The disproportionate impact of COVID 19, and how to provide “real” support for black/brown children and families and I just want to say this was an amazing webinar. I hope we can look forward to further conversation on this topic.
Thank you so much for making events like this! I really enjoyed and learned so much teaching strategies to implement STEM in the classroom.
The HR Network was an excellent opportunity to network and learn the best practices from other HR professionals within Head Start programs. You will be amazed by the level of talent and experience of the participants.
The Summer Camp training was powerful and inspiring! Each presenter was very engaging, it’s hard to even pick a favorite session!
The Leadership Challenge training was very relevant to my work as a Head Start leader! Great facilitation; stayed with the program yet allowed time for individual and small group reflections.
