Head Start Enrollment 16,574

For the Grand Canyon state with a population of 7.17 million, Arizona’s Head Start bridges a huge gap in needs among at-risk families. Despite being a mostly rural state where one-quarter of the land mass is made up of Indian reservations, two-thirds of the Head Start programs in Arizona are in the larger cities.

Head Start’s comprehensive approach of serving the whole child and the whole family provides a total service of more than 11,000 families in adult education, workforce training, parenting and dual-language classes.
