FAQ — Scholarships

Yes, we are open to either full-time or part-time employees. We only ask that part-time workers also attend school full time (12 or more units in the most recent semester).

No, this year we are focused on supporting staff who are pushing to finish their degree. It might be an AA or BA/BS degree — that does not matter. It might also be a graduate degree — MA/MS or Ed.D/PhD.

Yes, as long as you attend a 2-year or 4-year, accredited institution. It does not matter if it is a traditional, in-person, online, or hybrid program, with some online and some in-person coursework.  You will be asked to submit your most recent transcripts.

Submit the following with your application:

  • Unofficial transcripts
  • One letter of recommendation from a supervisor
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor

The transcripts should be from the current semester  — Winter or Spring 2021. Transcripts are used to verify that you are taking 12 or more units and the type of institution you are attending. Transcripts do not need to be official or sealed.

Yes, we do not have limits on the number of times you may apply and win. You may apply again whether you won last year or did not win.

No, the goal is to support staff who are working on their education now. Funds cannot be held for you until you start attending college. They must be applied to the next semester costs. You can ask the institution to apply any unused funds to the semester after that.

The scholarship funds are deposited directly with the institution you are enrolled with. Most colleges and universities have personnel who can assist you in securing the information you will need to apply the funds to your school account.
