Beyond “self-care”: Rethinking the approach to teacher retention

April 4, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - April 18, 2022 @ 3:30 pm

It’s time to think beyond self-care: What are the opportunities at our sites to make the work itself sustainable? To lighten the invisible backpack of stress and burnout that teachers carry each day? As leaders, you are uniquely positioned to make decisions that significantly impact your people’s experience at work – and their capacity to stay. In this three-part virtual learning series, we will:

  • Recenter ourselves: Taking care of a team starts by taking care of you. Let’s recognize your resilience, celebrate this year’s wins, and set intentions as you regroup for a new school year.
  • Build clarity: What are your staff members’ biggest needs? Stressors? Sources of joy? Let’s use this information to inform plans to retain and support your team into next year.
  • Plan ahead: Design person-centered experiences, rituals, and routines that will allow your staff to heal, recharge, and fuel up during summer in-service and throughout this fall.
