For over 25 years, Early Head Start has served to elevate the hopes of families, provide foundational knowledge, and partner with them in critical times. Region 9 Head Start gathers annually to challenge, enable, and celebrate the work of our community. From downtown Phoenix to the Pacific Islands, from homeless shelters and correctional facilities to early education centers, living rooms, and community spaces, and from staff who have master’s and doctoral degrees to those working part-time as caregivers – we encompass the Early Head Start community.
Join us in August for our annual gathering. Our theme this year is Nurturing You, Nurturing Them. Our goal is to bring forward content that balances the work we do with families and the foundational work we do to develop ourselves and our agencies during these urgent times.
Join us for our 2021 First 1,000 Days! Early Head Start Conference – again this year we are offering professional development content 100% virtual – you can enjoy it live or on-demand. We are using a conference platform named – Whova – this will enhance your participation on any device – desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. From our recent events, attendees report excitement on how engaging the format, presenters, and the conference platform experience is during and after the event.
Our conference platform allows you to navigate among presentations, exhibitors, networking spaces, and more. You will have more time to hear from experts, personalize the conference agenda, message others, post pictures, and talk with resource partners.
The content this year is both rich and balanced. We have selected four content tracts: Wellness, Teaching and Learning, Environments and Leadership. We will host keynotes and educational sessions targeting Center Based, Family Child Care, and Home Visiting. Our sessions will vary in length. We are offering 2-hour learning labs, 1-hour General Sessions, 45-minute Education Sessions, and 30-minute Cafes on personal development and wellness.
Individuals registered to attend the conference will be offered live and pre-recorded content from August 2-4, 2021. In addition, attendees will have access to content for up to 90 days after the scheduled event to review sessions or watch for the first time. Our conference platform makes attending easy!

I have been to management workshops, not leadership training. This has totally changed my perspective and encouraged me to propel forward in developing my skills.
I am honored and humbled to be a recipient of the Region 9 Head Start Association’s Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship helped me get one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming a Head Start Director.
I took part in The disproportionate impact of COVID 19, and how to provide “real” support for black/brown children and families and I just want to say this was an amazing webinar. I hope we can look forward to further conversation on this topic.
Thank you so much for making events like this! I really enjoyed and learned so much teaching strategies to implement STEM in the classroom.
The HR Network was an excellent opportunity to network and learn the best practices from other HR professionals within Head Start programs. You will be amazed by the level of talent and experience of the participants.
The Summer Camp training was powerful and inspiring! Each presenter was very engaging, it’s hard to even pick a favorite session!
The Leadership Challenge training was very relevant to my work as a Head Start leader! Great facilitation; stayed with the program yet allowed time for individual and small group reflections.
