May 26-27, 2022 Palm Springs, CA
Creating your own leadership style; engaging in mindful supervision and actions; bringing out the best in yourself and others; and building a cohesive team: These are just some of the skills you will learn at the Site Directors Academy. The program is designed to help leaders develop strategies to lead effectively and maintain high performing teams in the midst of turbulent external and internal organizational change.
This academy targets individuals responsible for the oversight of one or more child development centers to help them align the operations of each site with the goals of the organization. Site Directors play a critical role for their agencies. They serve as the organizational link to the broader mission and as the representative of your programs to parents, neighbors, and staff.
The Region 9 Head Start Association (R9HSA), in partnership with InnoVisions, a social enterprise of Neighborhood House Association in San Diego, CA, has created this two-day, four-module, intensive training to provide the following:
• Skills training in leadership, supervision, community building, systems integration, and program operations.
• Collaborative, adult learning experience with professional trainers, and peer-to-peer networking.

Bring a Team
The R9HSA’s Site Directors Academy is an excellent team training experience. The course design emphasizes individual and team development. Site based leadership requires the engagement of both site-based leadership and central office leadership. Bring a team and enjoy the dynamic of this unique setting!
We have selected Palm Springs for it’s mix of outdoor experiences, dining, and culture. This is a perfect setting for teams to pull back and re-set.
I have been to management workshops, not leadership training. This has totally changed my perspective and encouraged me to propel forward in developing my skills.
I am honored and humbled to be a recipient of the Region 9 Head Start Association’s Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship helped me get one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming a Head Start Director.
I took part in The disproportionate impact of COVID 19, and how to provide “real” support for black/brown children and families and I just want to say this was an amazing webinar. I hope we can look forward to further conversation on this topic.
Thank you so much for making events like this! I really enjoyed and learned so much teaching strategies to implement STEM in the classroom.
The HR Network was an excellent opportunity to network and learn the best practices from other HR professionals within Head Start programs. You will be amazed by the level of talent and experience of the participants.
The Summer Camp training was powerful and inspiring! Each presenter was very engaging, it’s hard to even pick a favorite session!
The Leadership Challenge training was very relevant to my work as a Head Start leader! Great facilitation; stayed with the program yet allowed time for individual and small group reflections.
